Metal (ferrous/iron/steel) packaging in general household waste is recovered after it has been through the incineration process. This post-burn metal is sent off Island for recycling.

The Government pays a subsidy per tonne for scrap metal shipped to the UK for recycling. For details of the Recycling Subsidy Scheme please contact the Recycling Section (contact details as above).
